A house steeped in history

Bourgvilain in southern Burgundy, a small village of 340 inhabitants ideally situated between Mâcon, Cluny and Sologny, in the heart of Lamartine country.

Introduction
1760
The original building has been extensively altered over the centuries.

Les Arbillons was once a mill, perhaps the one mentioned by the poet Alphonse de Lamartine in his work "Le Tailleur de Pierre de Saint-Point".

The original building has been extensively altered over the centuries.

The orangery was built on the foundations of the original mill, below the house and the canal that brought the water to the paddle wheel. A metal wheel has replaced the wooden paddle wheel.

Their daughter Marie sold the mill to Emilien DUTHION in 1877, who transformed and enlarged it to give it its current structure (construction of the main building).

The house remained in the family, since it was Mr DUTHION's son-in-law, Albert FAVRE, who bought it from his father-in-law in 1908.

The 20s ended with a financial crisis that weakened the FAVRE company like many others.

At the age of 64, Albert FAVRE sold his businesses and settled permanently in Les Arbillons with his wife and children.

However, with the war finally over, the FAVREs' fortunes had dwindled and the two orphaned daughters would have to face many difficulties to keep the Moulin des Arbillons.

Both childless, they decided to take in women and children in great socio-economic or family difficulty, and did so for two decades.

So it was that little Charles DUBOIS arrived in Bourgvilain at the age of 8 days, in 1948.

It was legally adopted by Jeanne Favre in 1969 and from then on bore the name DUBOIS-FAVRE.

After 70 years of life at the Moulin des Arbillons, where the five children of the DUBOIS-FAVRE family were born and raised.

La Demeure has welcomed many tourists to its gîtes and guest rooms, many of whom have become friends.

Purchase of La Demeure by Thierry Degorce and Nathalie Voisin, brother and sister, respectively Chairman and CEO and Deputy CEO of Iserba.

They manage a holding company that brings together the worlds of sport, catering and wine.
